Job: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Salary: £70,000 to 76,500 (or full time equivalent)

Contract: Permanent

Location: London

Hours: 30 or 37.5 hours – flexible, with availability to work some evenings and weekends. We would be open to proposals for two people to share the role.

Can you lead our mission to make architecture and cities more open, accessible and equitable?

Open City is recruiting for a dynamic and collaborative individual with team leadership experience to be our new Chief Executive Officer and ensure the charity goes from strength to strength.

Our aim is to empower communities to connect with the places they live and ultimately have a role in shaping them. Our new CEO will work closely with the staff team and the Board of trustees to build a vision, strategic plan, sustainable financial model, and inclusive culture to achieve this.

This is a chance to join Open City at an exciting time – you’ll be working to consolidate the ever-popular Open House Festival, grow our education programmes in London and the West Midlands, oversee a year-round programme of events, tours, publications, merchandise and digital content, including our award-winning podcast, and support a network of 60+ festivals globally.

You will be a creative leader and natural collaborator with a flair for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, trustees, funders and sponsors.

The role is based at our London HQ in the Design District in North Greenwich and we envisage it as a four to five day a week job, with some expectation of evening and weekend hours where necessary. We would be open to proposals for two people to share the role.

The closing date for applications is Monday 3 June 2024 at 12.00.
